Construction & Maintenance Worker - Lake Victoria
This interesting opportunity will require the successful applicant to be part of a diverse team who live and work in a small multicultural community based at the Lake Victoria Storage facility, assisting with the operations and maintenance of Lake Victoria water storage facility, including water regulating infrastructure, levee banks, concrete structures, roads, public facilities, and nearby Locks, salt interception scheme and land management of associated adjacent properties.
Lake Victoria is a remote locality north of the River Murray in NSW, approximately 100 km north east of Renmark and 80 km west of Wentworth, being townships with the nearest shopping, medical and educational facilities. You will need to live in the Lake Victoria area. Accommodation is available for which rent will be payable. Also required to share regular rostered overtime on weekends at the lake and adjacent locks.
It is essential to have a current motor drivers licence, HR or HC truck licence and boat operator licence. Additional qualifications such as various mobile plant operator licences, crane licence, an OHS construction induction white card and certificates in chemical handling, chainsaw competency, dogging and first aid along with mechanical knowledge will be highly regarded.
Duties include participation in construction work and preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance of the Lake Victoria related infrastructure. The ideal person will have a background in construction and maintenance work, be a competent, responsible plant operator diligent in care and maintenance of equipment, be versatile with small machinery, power and hand tools and willing to comply with provided safe work procedures, instructions and guidelines. Knowledge of land and environmental management and the ability to use basic computer applications will be useful.
